With nearly 49 million Americans without access to nutritious food on a regular basis, it was no question for Tim Bergling a.k.a. Avicii to tackle this problem head on with his talent. The DJ/Producer/Remixer, known well for his track “Levels,” challenged the EDM scene with his House For Hunger tour. First presented by Ash Pournouri of At Night Management, the tour aims to raise $1 million in gig fees to donate towards Feeding America to help fight hunger across the United States. With their generous efforts, Ash and Tim have also agreed to cover the cost to ensure that $1 million is raised by the end of the tour.

As an influential nation, the United States is viewed as some entity free from global issues such as poverty. However, issues such as hunger are evident in every part of the nation. It isn’t uncommon to run across people who struggle to put food on the table or find people uncomfortable about asking for help. It’s tough, but that’s the certain truth that most people are unaware of.

Seeing individuals such as Avicii and Ash use their talents for charity inspired us to continue reaching out. When we heard word about the tour hitting Reno, we wanted to make sure we would cover the event. We wanted to showcase what the tour was all about and to help promote the tour even further. The tour was a new way of thinking and we wanted to be a part of the movement.

Likewise, we believed in Ash’s vision of using this tour to push the electronic scene towards a positive aspect. A majority of people regard the scene as some sort of reckless youth culture, but that isn’t always the case. We believe, as with Ash, that music promotes energy and a desirable state of euphoria. As Ash states, “The energy in our music has specifically resulted in hundreds of thousands of fans explicitly expressing the euphoria they feel when enjoying it.”

When we shot this event, we could feel that sense of euphoria. Every single track, from the moment Avicii dropped his first track at midnight, brought out so much energy and the crowd was definitely feeling it. From “Seek Bromance” to “Fade Into Darkness,” it was so uplifting to see everyone pumped up. When “Levels” dropped, a surge of energy blasted through the venue. Even if we were partying it up at 1AM in the morning, time was of no issue. The music was our energy.

Despite the tight tour schedule, Avicii showed so much energy in his Reno set. It was so impressive to see him move the crowd and get people jumping. I think that’s one of the greatest things about house music. The music creates this energy that everyone can share. It was an experience that everyone could share with one another.

The crowd was massive and at the same time extremely cool. From time to time, we managed to surf through the packed crowd to get some shots of their perspective. It was cool to see through the eyes of the crowd and feel the music from their point of view. Another neat aspect was that crowd was filled with people of different backgrounds. Everyone offered their own energy towards the event whether it was through shuffling or just throwing their hands in the air.

Around 2AM Avicii wrapped up and was greeted by the crowd shouting for more. You had to feel the goosebumps that came with the heavy appreciation. In response, Avicii brought two tracks forward including House Of Pain’s “Jump Around” and a massive dubstep remix of “Levels” by Skrillex. Both tracks were a great finish to a successful night.

For everyone who came out, thank you for supporting House For Hunger and of course we have to give a huge thanks to Ash and Avicii. On behalf of my company, I’d like to also give a shout out to Felix, Eric, At Night Management, and everyone else who made the event run smoothly for our media team. It was definitely a good feeling.
