CINEMA // SF WEKFEST 2012: Tranquility
Filmmaking is all about storytelling regardless of the project. Whether it is a short film or in this case an automotive showcase, I film with the story in mind. I visualize the characters, the plot, the scenes, the laughter, and the emotions that I want to pursue in my projects. It is essentially an extension of my creativity that I wish to share with those willing to listen.
Filming SF WEKFEST gave me a chance to try a new and different way of storytelling. I’ve seen plenty of car show videos and some of them are quite fantastic, but I wanted to do something different. I wanted to create a story with all the artistic pieces in place from beginning to end.
After recently watching the latest Studio Ghibli release “Karigurashi No Arrietti,” also known as “The Secret World of Arrietty” here in the States, I knew the direction that I wanted to take with this film for SF WEKFEST. In Studio Ghilbi’s latest release we see the story unravel from the perspective of Arrietty, a miniature 14-year old girl, who sees us as giants and how large the world is compared to her. I wanted to take that “small person/big world” perspective to create a world of adventure for my latest edit.
We hope you enjoy our latest film release by Fitted Life entitled “SF WEKFEST 2012: Tranquility.”
