1977 R 100/7, BMW’s Classic Beauty

On our food stop back to Wheatland, we spotted a fresh BMW beauty hailing from the 70′s. The eye catching bike drew me in the moment we rolled into the parking lot. I rushed to get my camera out and with the sun setting in the background, it made for the perfect opportunity to snap this 1977 BMW R 100/7. It’s cool factor has landed itself in my ongoing list of favorite motorcycles.

I’m not familiar with motorbikes or motorcycles, since my background is in cars, but that will soon change. For the past year or so, I’ve been meaning to get my hands on a motorcycle. I really can’t fixate the real reason why I’m getting a bike. Sometimes, I feel it’s because I’m trying to beat the rising gas prices. Other times, it feels like I’m diving into a quarter-life crisis through my twenties. Yet, regardless of the excuse, I feel the proper reason is a more simpler one, “adrenaline.” There’s something raw about being on bike and riding through the scenic country. The wind brushes your face while the engine roars around you and stirs up a symphony of adventure. The overall motoring experience becomes personal to the touch. You feel like you’re your favorite action star driving through a scene of either Indiana Jones or Mission Impossible. In a couple of weeks, I’ll be finally enrolling into a motorcycle training course to obtain my M1 license. I really can’t wait and I’m definitely looking forward to riding through the open California roads. Thinking about it all puts a big funny looking smile on my face.
